WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL PROJECT

For the past few years, Senegalese youth has been leaving the villages of Senegal to try to reach Europe on fishing boats. Many died trying, others were returned home by European boarder police. This has not discourage them, even Covid did not.

Shiloh Academie is bringing the "American Dream" closer to home.

Since 2019, we have been offering preschool and Primary school education in the village of Gandigal in the outskirts of the resort area of Saly, Senegal.

Breakfast and lunch are served daily for a symbolic participation from parents, some students even get to be schooled for free.

Since we own our building we only have to pay for food and the teachers.

A farming project is running alongside the school project to provide low cost vegetable and meat.

Offering an American style education and activities allows children to grow up loving their country and wanting to stay here.

We currently go up to primary 5 and hopefully one day we will have a full high school in the village.

Students that used to stay home until the age of 12 are now going to school as this school is close by. The public school is almost 2 miles away and only caters for primary 1 to 5 with over 100 students per class they operate on half day basis: half the student come in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. Drop out and failure rates are so high.

The other alternatives for education are coranic schools but they do not lead to the possibility to go the junior high nor high school.

With Shiloh Academie, children from ages 3 are welcome. Young mothers are able to continue high school or go to work. We could do so much more with more hands and hearts to help out.
